How to Eliminate Deliverables You Secretly Hate (Without Sacrificing Client Results)

Let’s get real: Are there deliverables in your program that low-key make you hate your job?

You know the ones I mean – industry-standard support tools that are supposed to be best practice, but in reality, they leave you feeling burned out, resentful, or boxed into a version of support that doesn’t work for your energy, time, or leadership style.

Maybe it’s daily access via chat. Or the pressure of always being “on” in your community. Or maybe it’s those open-ended Q&A calls that make you feel like a human Google.

Whatever it is, I’m here to say: You’re not broken for feeling that way. And you’re not alone.

In fact, building a signature program around deliverables that don’t align with your natural strengths is one of the fastest ways to quietly burn out. So let’s fix that.

Let’s Talk About the Water in the Desert

One of my favorite metaphors for this conversation:

Imagine your ideal client is wandering the Sahara, desperate for water. You’re standing there with a vat of it. They run up, parched and pleading – “Please! I need water!”

And you respond, “Sure, just let me decide if I want to serve it in a mason jar or a cocktail glass.”

They don’t care about the container. They care about getting the result.

Your clients don’t need your support to look a certain way. They need it to work. Which means you have permission to shift how you deliver your brilliance – as long as it helps them achieve what they came for.

You’re Allowed to Build It Differently

The online business space has made some deliverables feel like must-haves:

  • Daily Slack or Voxer access
  • Group Q&A calls every week
  • Live critiques with 24-hour turnaround

But these are not laws. They’re options. And you get to choose deliverables that:

  • Play to your teaching strengths (video? audio? written?)
  • Fit your lifestyle and boundaries
  • Still serve your clients’ learning needs

Deliverables That Serve Them Without Draining You

Here are some smart swaps and upgrades that align to both client results and your sanity, using the VARK learning style model (Visual, Aural, Reading/Writing, Kinesthetic).

Instead of Live Q&A Every Week…

  • Offer a Private Podcast for in-depth answers
  • Create a continually growing FAQ video library
  • Use a form submission + weekly email roundup for questions

Instead of Slack Access 24/7…

  • Host weekly themed prompts in a community
  • Use dedicated topic channels (not open chat)
  • Provide SOS call credits for urgent 1:1 issues

Instead of Live Critiques in Real Time…

  • Offer Loom reviews or Before & After analysis
  • Provide written feedback in bullet point form
  • Hold pop-up hot seats with limited spots

Instead of Repetitive Teaching Calls…

  • Add a kickstart call to align expectations + goals
  • Build out video trainings with slides for core curriculum
  • Host workshop-style sessions for active implementation

Instead of Feeling Trapped by Templates…

  • Include Plug & Play SOPs or Tracking Boards
  • Offer pre-researched resource lists or Notion templates

When you approach your deliverables this way, you’re not just freeing yourself up—you’re creating a more intentional, effective learning experience for your clients.

Your Clients Aren’t Here for Access – They’re Here for Outcomes

At the end of the day, no one joins your program because they love Slack threads or breakout rooms. They join to get a transformation. And if your delivery method supports that transformation better because you’re energized, clear, and consistent?

That’s a win-win.

So consider this your official permission slip to ditch what drains you and build a support system that amplifies your brilliance.

You don’t need to build your business in someone else’s image.

You just need to build it to work—for you and them.
